GOD OF THE BIBLE
What does the Bible say about God?
THE NATURE OF GOD:
We cannot fully comprehend many aspects of God: Including that God is: Eternal, Omnipresent, Omniscient, No beginning and No end.
God is all knowing.
God knew you before you came into existence.
God draws us to him.
Nothing happens without God allowing it to happen.
We do not understand Gods ways, or his justice.
God loves us and rejoices in believers.
1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
Romans 11:33-34 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! Who hath known the mind of God?
YOUR INTEREST IN MATTERS OF THE LORD IS NOT A COINCIDENCE: The mere fact that you are reading this, or have an interest in matters pertaining to the Lord means that God, in his infinite wisdom, is providing you with the opportunity and inviting you to believe in him.
THE NATURE OF MAN: FREEDOM OF CHOICE
Man was created with Freedom of choice, as manifested by the Choices of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the choices of the people of Israel in the Desert, the choices of the Jews, God’s chosen people as described in Romans 11.
GOD’S LOVE TOWARDS MANKIND
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
John 7:17 Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.
Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Mark 8: 34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me”.
Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
Romans 3:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 10:9,10: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Genesis 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
John 1:12-13: 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20:
19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Ezekiel 18:30-32:
30 “Therefore, you Israelites, I will judge each of you according to your own ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.
31 Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel?
32 For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!
THE GREAT COMMISSION IS DEMONSTRATIVE OF THE NEED TO PROCLAIM GOD’S WORD
THE GREAT COMMISSION PASSAGE: Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus spake unto them saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the world. "
IT IS GOD WHO GIVES THE INCREASE.
IT IS GOD WHO WORKS IN THE HEART OF MAN.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO SPREAD HIS WORD, AND GOD, IN HIS INFINITE WISDOM, MOVES IN THE HEARTS OF MAN TO DRAW THEM TO HIM.
CONCLUSION
We are creatures of limited understanding of God.
We struggle to fully appreciate and comprehend the concepts of:
Creation from nothing.
Eternity – No beginning and no end.
God’s Love to mankind.
God’s power.
God’s justice.
God’s ability to effectuate change in evil men, of which there are many examples throughout history.
God’s mercy.
We must daily thank God for His immeasurable love and mercy towards us, in sending his Son to die on the cross, as a sacrifice for our sin, so that we can escape the eternal punishment bestowed upon sinful beings, who are otherwise deserving of eternal punishment and damnation.
