Parable of the Good Samaritan

Below is the message portion of the ZOOM meeting at the Arabic Bible Church, Wichita, KS.

A Jewish lawyer tempted Jesus with the question “Who is my neighbor?” Luke10:25-37.

Jesus responds with the Parable of the Good Samarita.

The Jewish lawyer’s question to Jesus: what must I do to inherit eternal life?

Jesus’s reply: Wht is written in the Law?

The lawyer’s reply: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God…and thy neighbor as thyself. Lev. 19:18.

Jesus says: “…this do and thou shalt live.”

The lawyer wants to Justify himself and says “who is my neighbor?”

Jesus then delivers the Parable of the Good Samaritan.

  1. A man going from Jerusalem to Jerico was assaulted by thieves and left half dead.

  2. A priest & a Levi passed him by with no assitance, not wanting to be contaminated.

  3. A Samaritan came by, had compassion, bound up his wounds, poured oil & wine on him and took him to an Inn, cared for him, and payed his expenses.

  4. Jesus asks the lawyer “who was neighbor unto him?” The lawyer says “He that showed mercy”.

  5. Jesus says to him “go and do likewise.” Show compassion to all-to Jews and Samaritans.
