David’s sling

Several weapons are mentioned in the Bible

The first murder weapon: Genesis 4:3-8

  1. Cain’s sharpened stone. Abel’s blood was shed.

  2. Cain’s descendent Tubal-Cain became a forger of bronze and iron.

Arrows, bows and archers

  1. Art of archery is ancient. Abraham, Hagar and Ishmael. Genesis 21:14-19. Ishmael becomes an archer.

  2. Jacob’s last words to his sons. Genesis 49:22-24

  3. King Uzziah army. II Chronicles 26:14

Rod and staff of Moses

  1. Moses used his rod to drive Jethro’s flock in the wilderness. Exodus 3:1

  2. Moses told to cast his staff to the ground and it became a serpent. Exodus 4:1-5

  3. Moses, rod used to divide the Red Sea. Exodus 14:15-16.

  4. Produces water from the Rock in the wilderness of Sinai. Numbers 20:7-12.

Stoning a means of execution.

  1. One who gives his descendants to Molech is to be stoned. Leviticus 20:1-2.

  2. Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall be stoned. Leviticus 24:16.

  3. Stoning of Stephen. Acts 6:8-12 & 7:54-60.

The Bronze bow and arrow. Zophar speaking to Job about the wicked man.

  1. The triumphing of the wicked is short…Job 20:5

  2. He will flee from the iron weapon, a bronze bow will pierce him through. Job 20:24,29.

Ox Goad

  1. Used to spur or guide livestock, usually oxen, as it pulls a plough or cart.

  2. Used by Shamgar son of Anath, one of the Judges of Israel, to kill six hundred Philistines. Judges 3:31.

  3. Metal goads were sharpened for the Israelites by Philistines. I Samuel 13:20.

The Jawbone of an Ass.

  1. Samson’s weapon to slaughter the Philistines. Judges 15:14-17.

Sling and stones

  1. David’s Sling vs. Goliath’s spear. I Samuel 17:38-50.

  2. Used by Israelites in war. II Kings 3:25.

  3. Benjamites could sling stones at a hair breadth, and not miss. Judges 20:14-16

Javelin and Sword

  1. King Saul’s Javelin. I Samuel 18:6-11.

  2. King Saul would later fall on his sword and die. I Samuel 31:2-5.

Apostle Peter’s sword

  1. Judas betrays Jesus. John 18:3-5.

  2. Simon Peter strikes the High Priest’s servant with a sword and cuts off his ear. John 18:3-11.

  3. Jesus touched the servant’s ear and healed him. Luke 22:50-51.
