MAN AND GOD AND LIFE.

MAN AND GOD AND LIFE, DEATH & LIFE AFTER DEATH

Intro: Humans have come up with many theories. Samples include:

  1. There is no difference between man and other creatures, and so when we die, that is the end. Humans merely evolved from animals, and animals and humans have the same end.

  2. Reincarnation - Indian religions, Middle East (Druze), Various ancient and modern religions. Some religions teach that after death the soul is transmigrated into a new infant or animal to live again.

  3. Man is GOD – An example is said to be a famous actor, who when asked if he beleves in

    God is reported to have said: “I am God”.

  4. Pantheism, or the belief that there is no God and that man is not above nature, but a part of it.

    They deeply revere the universe and nature and joyfully accept and embrace life.

  5. Religion that Men, particularly martyrs, will be favored with many (72) virgins as their reward in

    heaven – HEAVEN IS AN EROTIC, SENSUAL PLACE. All earthly pleasures and desires will be

    constantly fulfilled.

  6. Polytheism – Belief in many gods or goddesses

  7. Atheism – there is no god

The Bible Teaches us:
Genesis 1:27
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him;

male and female He created them.

Isaiah 43:4 1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
3 For I am the LORD your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I gave Egypt for your ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
4 Since you were precious in My sight,
You have been honored,
And I have loved you;
Therefore I will give men for you,
And people for your life.
5 Fear not, for I am with you;
I will bring your descendants from the east,
And gather you from the west;

John 3:5 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Romans 2:6-8 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:[a] 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,

Matthew 25:41 41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

John 4:24 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Revelation 20:10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[a] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Revelation 3:20-21 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Luke 23:43 43 And Jesus said to the thief on the cross, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

Romans 6:23 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 14:2-3 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions;[a] if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.[b] 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

John 3:16 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Psalm 116:15 15 Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His saints.

2 Samuel 12:22-23: David after the death of his child: 22 And he said, “While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, ‘Who can tell whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’ 23 But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.”

1 Thessalonians 4

The Comfort of Christ’s Coming

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in

Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Corinthians 5 Assurance of the Resurrection

5 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
