Better Live Dog than Dead Lion

Better live dog than dead lion. Ecclesiastes 9:1-5.

This is one of several of King Solomon’s Analogies.

“The righteous and the wise and their works are in the hand of God”. vs.1.

“There is one event to the righteous and the wicked…after that they go to the dead. vs. 2-3

“For him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they anymore a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.” vs. 5.

Interpretation: It is better to live a humble life than to die a noble death.
