Can Man frustrate God

There are many Old Testament exampled of man frustrating God.

  1. Adam & Eve frustrated God by eating the forbidden fruit. Genesis 2:15-17.

  2. Eve was deceived by the Serpant (Satan) and ate the forbidden fruit, and gave to Adam and he ate of it. Gen. 3:6-9.

  3. They died spiritually but God spared them physically. God made coats of skins and clothed them. Genesis 3:21. This was the first animal sacrifice).

Moses frustrated God when he struck the Rock rather than speaking to it.

  1. During their travel through the desert of Zin, and had no water. Numbers 20: 2.

  2. God told Moses to gather the people and speak to the Rock. Numbers 20:8.

  3. Moses, because of his anger due the people constantly complaining, smote the Rock with his rod. Numbers 20:10-11.

  4. Moses and Aaron was not allowed to enter the promised land. Numbers 20:12.

David committed adultry with Bathsheba He suffered for it but repented & was forgiven.

  1. David committed adultry with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite. 2 Samuel 11:2-4.

  2. God sends the prophet Nathan to rebuke David. 2 Samuel 12:9-10.

  3. David repents and his life was spared. 2 Samuel 12:13.

The Prophet Elisha on his death bed is frustrated by King Joash of Israel as recorded in II Kings 13:14-19.

  1. King Joash came and wept over the face of Elisha as he was dying. vs.14.

  2. Elisha asks him to cast arrows as a sign of God delivering Israel from Syria. Joash casts three arrows and stops. vs.18.

  3. Elisha, the man of God, was wroth with him and said you should have smitten five or six times. You will now smite Syria only thrice. vs.19.
