Paul’s farewell messages

Farewell message to the Ephesus Elders. Acts 20:17-38.

Paul is on his final trip to Jerusalem. He knows he will see them no more. vs. 22-23.

Paul had spent 3 years in Ephesus. He had planted the church and appointed Elders.

He must say farewell. He describes the nature of his ministry as an example for the Elders.

He warns the Elders to be on guard for false teachers-ravenous wolves that would creep into the church. vs. 28-29.

The weeping farewell. vs. 36-38.

Farewell message to Timothy. 11 Timothy 4:6-8.

His time of departure is at hand. vs.6.

He has fought a good fight and finished his course. vs. 7.

  1. Paul was beaten 5 times by the Jewish leaders. II Corinthians 11:24. Roman law allowed 39 lashes. 40 was fatal.

  2. Paul was stoned at Lystra and thought he was dead. Acts 14:19.

  3. He was ready to meet the Lord the Righteous Judge. vs. 8.

Paul’s statement to the Philippians: “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain…” Philippians 1:21,23.
