Gentile Women of Faith in the Old Testament.
Tamar was obedient to the custom of widowhood and marriage. Her son by Judah, Pharez was in the genealogy of King David and Jesus.
Why go to the Harlot’s house?
It was on the Jericho city wall, easiest to get to as spies.
Rahab was most accomodating. Rahab hides the spies from the Kings messenger. Joshua 2:3-6.
God’s plan and leading are amazing.
Rahab’s amazing statement of faith: “I know that the Lord has given you the land…for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above & earth beneath.” Joshua 2:9-11.
She then arranges their escape with a demand: “Swear unto me by the Lord…that ye will save alive my father, mother, and brethren.” Joshua 2:12-13.
Rahab is the first Gentile woman to be welcomed into God’s family and Genealogy of Christ. Matt. 1:5.
Naomi decides to return to Bethlehem in Israel the Land of Promise. Ruth 2:6.
She says to her daughters in law “return to your mother’s house: the Lord deal kindly with you as ye have dealt with the dead and with me.” Ruth 1:8
Orpah kissed her mother in law goodby, but Ruth “clave unto her”. Ruth 2:14
Ruth said: “Intreat me not to leave thee, or return from following after thee: for whither thou goest I will go; and where thou lodgest I will lodge; thy people shall be my people and thy God my God. Ruth 1:16.
Ruth has been influenced by Godly Naomi and declared her faith in the God of Israel.
Ruth instructed to reach out to Boaz, Naomi’s kinsman. Ruth 3:1-4.
He marries Ruth according to Hebrew tradition. Ruth 4:9-11.
Ruth joins the family of God and Geneology of King David and Jesus Christ. Matt. 1:5-6.
It was God’s eternal plan to include Gentile women in the lineage of Christ who came to provide redemption for all of Adam’s race.
