Parable of the two Debtors

Jesus’s response to Simon the Pharisee. Luke 7:36-50.

Simon wants to determine if Jesus is the Prophet of God.

He sets up a banquet for Jesus & invites guests.

A known sinful woman crashes the banquet.

  1. She kisses the feet of Jesus showing her love for him.

  2. Jesus says to her “your sins are forgiven…thy faith has saved thee, go in peace.”

Simon questions Jesus’s response to the sinful woman.

Jesus responds with the Parable of the Creditor and two Debtors.

  1. One of the creditors owed 500 pence, the other 50.

  2. The Debtor forgives them both.

  3. Jesus asks Simon: “… which of them will love him most?”
