The weeping Prophet

Jeremiah was the prophet before the impending captivity of the nation of Judah. He spent 40 years delivering God’s warning.

He condemned false worship and social injustice, with calls to repentance. Jeremiah 7:1-15.

He was alone, was not permitted to marry (Jermiah 16:2).

The people turned against him and did not believe his warning of the coming captivity. Jeremiah 16:10.

He lived through the seige of Jerusalem and as the people were taken captive.

“Mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock is taken away captive”. Jeremiah 13:17.

He predicted the restoration of the remnant of Judah. Jeremiah 31:4.
