Jesus’s Early Years
Jesus at the Temple at age 12 years.
Jesus in his early childhood years. Luke 2:21-40.
When he was eight days old he was circumcised according to the law of Moses. Luke 2:21.
Jesus presented in the Temple in Jerusalem after Mary’s purification. Luke 2:22-23. This was 40 days after the child’s birth. Leviticus 12:2-3, 6-7.

The family returns to Nazareth, and the child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him. Luke 2:39-40.
Jesus’s teenage years. Luke 2:41-50.
When he was 12 years old Jesus was taken with his parents to Jerusalem for Passover week . Luke 2:41-42.
After the days of Passover were over his parents and family returned but Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. His parents could not find him among the family and returned to Jerusalem seeking him. Luke 2:43-45
After three days they find him in the Temple sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions and those that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. Luke 2:46-47.
Mary and Joseph are amazed and Mary says “Son, why have you done this to us, your father and I have sought you anxiously”. Luke 2:48.
Jesus replies: “Why did you seek me? Did you not know I must be about my Father’s business?” Luke 2:49.
“They did not undestand the statement he spoke to them”. Luke 2:50.
Jesus returns with Joseph and Mary to Nazareth. Luke 2:51-52.
He is subject to them. Jesus’s humanity. Joseph, his earthly father was a carpenter.
Mary kept all these things in her heart. Recognizes Jesus’s deity.
And Jesus continues to increase in wisdom and stature, and favor with God and man.
Jesus begins his earthly ministry at thirty years of age. Luke 3:21-23a.
Jewish Rabi began ministry at thirty years of age.
