THE ANGRY GOD WITH A STRETCHED OUT HAND
Isaiah 5:20-25 Therefore is the anger of the Lord kindled against His people…For all this, His anger is not turned away but His hand is stretched out still.
Isaiah 9:12 Syrian & Philistines as adversaries.
Isaiah 9:17 No mercy on hypocrites & evildoers.
Isaiah 9:21 Manasseh & Ephraim against Judah.
Isaiah 10:1-4 The unrighteous & wicked will fall.
Lamentations 3:1-4 Afflicted by the rod of His wrath.
God’s holiness demands judgement: Romans 8:32 God spared not His only Son but gave Him up for us all.
God’s judgement has a gracious element.
EXAMPLES OF GOD REACHING OUT TO MAN.
GARDEN OF EDEN.
Genesis 2:7 God formed man of the dust of the ground-molded by the hand of God. God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Body Spirit & Soul.
Genesis 2:18,21-22 - Not good that man be alone.
Adam in deep sleep (First Anesthesiologist).
Rib resection (First Thoracic Surgeon). Eve also molded by the hand of God.
Adam’s permanent chest wall defect. Constant reminder of rib sharing.
Genesis 3:9 God called out to Adam, where art thou? Disobedience, shame, hiding.
God reached out to Adam & Eve in spite of their disobedience-spared them physically-died spiritually.
Genesis 3:21- God made coats of skin for Adam & Eve. Hand made. First animal sacrifice for sin.
THE FLOOD:
Genesis 6:8,12,17-18. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
With thee will I establish my covenant.
God reaches out to righteous man (Noah & his family) & spares the animals.
THE PROPHETS:
Isaiah 9:2-4. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light.
Isaiah 11:1-6,10. Stem & Root of Jesse will slay the wicked, bring righteousness, peace.
Gentiles will seek Him.
Isaiah 11:11 The Lord shall set His Hand again to recover the remnant of His people.
Ezekiel 2:7-9, 3:4, 3:27. I looked and a hand was reached out to me: speak my words.
He that heareth let him hear.
Lamentations 3:21-26. Hope in the Lord’s mercies.
PROMISES OF THE REDEEMER
First promise of the Redeemer:
Genesis 3:14 God rebukes the Serpent-Satan.
Genesis 3:15 Seed of the woman to crush Satans head.
Second promise of the Redeemer.
Genesis 12:1-3. Abrahamic Covenant. …In thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
Isaiah 9:2 The people that walked in darkness shall have seen a Great Light.They in the shadow of death upon them has the light shined.
Third promise of the Redeemer:
Isaiah 9:6-7 Unto us a Child is born unto us a Son is given He shall be called the Mighty God, the Prince of Peace.
He will establish judgement & justice forever.
JESUS REACHING OUT & TOUCHING-Arrival of the Redeemer.
Mt. 8:2-3 Healing of the Leper.
Mt. 8:4-15 Jesus heals the Centurian’s servant and the Apostle Peter’s Mother-in law healed.
Mt. 9:18, 25 Jewish Leader’s dead daughter raised to life.
Mt. 9:27-29 The 2 blind men. Jesus touched their eyes and healed them.
Luke 4:40 Jesus laid His hands on the sick in a crowd and healed them.
John 9:1-7 The man born blind. Optical Agenesis: Absence of eyeballs, optic nerves, optic chiasm, optic tracts, optic radiations, and visual cortex occipital lobe. Jesus spit on the ground, made clay & anointed his eyes. A focal creative act.
Mk. 7:31-37 Deaf man with speech impediment. Jesus put His fingers in his ears, spit and touched his tongue…ears opened and tongue loosed.
Mt.14:29-31. Jesus reached out His hand to sinking Peter. Reaching out to those of little faith.
Mark 5:6-20. The demon possessed Gaderene rescued. Location of the Landing: across the sea of Galilee. Not an accident. Storm used as an instrument. Jesus cast out the demons. Instructed to become the first Gentile missionary.
John 4:3-7 He must needs go through Samaria: reaching out to Samaritans-part Jewish part Gentile.
Luke 7:1-10. Jesus heals the Roman Centurian’s servant-Reaches out to a Gentile.
The Suffering Savior: Gesthemane, Jesus on trial, Jessus crucified, Jesus resurrected.
Mark !6:15 Jesus’s final instruction to His apostles: Go ye into all the World and preach the Gospel to every creature.
POST RESURECTION:
Acts 9:1-6, 9-12. Jesus Appears to Saul of Tarsus. The last Apostolic called by Jesus to replace Judas Iscariot & become the Apostle to the Gentiles.
Ananias instructed to touch Paul’s eyes to restore his vision. Acted as Christ’s instrument.
Romans 10:21 All day long I have stretched out my hand to a disobedient & obstinate people.
