God’s Rest
God rested and God provides rest.
God’s rest after creation. Genesis 2:1-2. The heaven and earth were finished…and God rested on the 7th day.
God provides His rest for His people in the old testament.
The day of rest-the sabbath day established. Exodus 20:8. Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy.
For in 6 days the Lord made heaven & earth…and rested the 7th day, blessed it and hallowed it. Ex. 20:11.
My presence will go with you and I will give you rest. Exodus 33:14.
When your fathers tempted me…I sware in my wrath they shall not enter into my rest. Hebrews 3:9-11.
For with whom was He grieved…they could not enter into His rest because of unbelief. Hebrews 3:18-19.
My soul finds rest in God. Psalm 62:1-2.
You will find rest for your soul. Jeremiah 6:16.
Come unto me all ye that labor & heavy laden…and ye will find rest unto your soul. Matthew 11:28-30.
Sabbath rest. Mark 2:27. The Sabbath was made for man not man for the Sabbath.
God’s rest for His people today.
There remaineth a sabbath rest for God’s people. Hebrews 4:9-11.
There remained therefore a rest for the people of God. For he that entered into his rest, he hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His. Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Hebrews 4:9-11.
The means of entering into God’s rest. Hebrews 4:12-16.
The word of God.
The great High Priest…Jesus the Son of God…who was tempted as we are without sin.
Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace…
The final rest for the people of God. Revelation 21:1-4.
I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away.
And I John saw the holy city the new Jerusalem come down from God out of heaven.
Behold the tabernacle of God is with men and God will dwell with them.
And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.
