Jeremiah the weeping Prophet

Jeremiah’s questions to God. Jeremiah chapter 12.

  1. Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all happy that deal treacherously. vs.1.

  2. Thou has planted them; yea they have taken root. They grow, yea they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth and far from their reins… pull them out like sheep for the slaughter….Vs 2-3.

  3. How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? … vs. 4.

God’s respose:

  1. If Thou has run with the footmen and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, wherein Thou has trusted they worried thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan? For even thy brethren and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee…vs. 5-6.

  2. I have foesaken mine house, I have left my heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hands of her enemies. vs.7.

  3. Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me, therefore I have hated it. God hates wickedness and perverseness toward him. vs.8.

  4. Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have troden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. vs.10.

  5. They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns…vs. 13.

  6. Thus says the Lord against all mine evil neighbors, that touch my inheritance which I caused my people Israel to inherit; behold I will pluck them out of their land…vs. 14.

  7. And after I have plucked them out, I will return, and have compassion on them and bring them again, every man to his heritage…if they learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The Lord liveth …then shall they shall be built in the midst of my people. vs 15-16. Includes Jews and Gentiles.
