Jesus on the Mount of Olives.
It is the mount on the east edge of Jerusalem. It’s elevation is 2710 ft.
Bethany was on the east slope of the Mount of Olives two miles from Jerusalem.
Bethphage was on the way from Bethany to the mount of Olives.
Mount of Olives, also known as Mount Olivet. It is a historic mount covered with olive groves with Olive Trees surviving more than 2,000 years. Olive oil is very healthy, was used for purification in worship, and for Oil Lamps.
Jesus made many visits to the Mount of Olives.
Jesus visited the Mount of Olives three times in the last week of His earthly life.
First visit: Jesus’s Triumphal Entry. Luke 19:28-38. Jesus Looks at Jerusalem from mount Olives and weeps over the city. Luke 19:41-44.
Second visit: Jesus’s Olivet Discourse after his visit to the Temple. Matthew 24:1-8, 21-22, 30.
Third visit was after the Last Supper, the evening He was betrayed. John 13:21-27; John 18:1. The Garden of Gethsemane (Hebrew word for the Oil-press) was at the foot of Mount Olives east of Jerusalem.
Jesus’s appearance to the Disciples after his resurrection.
To the two that were walking to the village called Emmaus near Jerusalem. Luke 24:13-16, 30-35.
To the 11 Disciples in Jerusalem confirming His resurrection and instructs them to preach in His name. Luke 24:36-49.
Jesus then led them out as far as Bethany, at the foot of the Mount of Olives, blessed them, and was taken up to heaven. Luke 24:50-53.
After Jesus’s ascension, two angels told the Disciples on the Mount of Olives of Jesus’s return. That His Second Coming would be to the Mount of Olives. Acts 1:10-11.
The Prophet Zechariah had spoken of Christ’s second coming: “His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives” where Jesus was betrayed. Zechariah 14:3-4.
