Righteous Lot delivered from Sodom and Gomorah
God delivered Just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked. II Peter 2:7
Abraham and Lot.
Lot was the son of Haran, Abraham’s brother who had died before God called Abraham to go to the land of promise. Genesis 12:1-7.
Abraham’s father Terah and his family were idol worshippers. Joshua 24:2
Tera takes Abraham, Sarah and Lot to Haran, Syria. He dies there. Genesis 11:31-32.
Abraham then takes Sarah and Lot to Caanan.
Abraham and Lot had large flocks and herds…there was strife between their herdsman. Abraham tells Lot to go to the land he prefers. Gen.13:2-9.
Lot chooses the plane of Jordan…and pitched his tent toward Sodom. Gen. 13:10-12.
Lot in Sodom.
Lot’s captivity and rescue. Kings of Sodom & Gomorah go to war, are defeated and taken captive including Lot and his family. Gen.14:11-12.
Abraham delivers Lot, his family and the kings of Sodom and Gomorah. Gen.14:13-17
Melchizedek king of Salem meets Abraham and blesses him. Gen. 14:18-20.
God reveals to Abraham His plan to judge the wickedness of Sodom & Gomorah. Gen. 18:1-3,17-20.
Abraham pleads for the righteous in Sodom. Gen. 18:23-33.
The two angels come to Sodom. Lot is at the city gate, greets them and invites them to his house. Gen. 19:1-3.
The men of the city of Sodom demand Lot give them his guests. Gen. 19:4-5.
Lot’s pleads with them. Gen. 19:6-9.
The Angels deliver Lot, blind the intruders and instruct Lot to gather his family to be delivered from Sodom. Gen. 19:10-13.
Lot pleads with his sons-in-law. They mock him. vs.14.
Lot, his wife and unmarried daughters led out of Sodom, instructed to flee to the mountains and not look back.
Lot’s reluctance. Genesis 19:15-23.
Sodom amd Gomorah’s destruction by brimstone and fire by the Lord out of heaven. vs.24-25.
Lots’wife looks back and became a pillar of salt. vs. 26.
God remembered Abraham and rescued Lot from Sodom. They went from Sodom to Zoar then to the mountains. Genesis 19:29.

God turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes…
God delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked…that righteous man dwelling among them vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds.
The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations…
Jesus’s reference to Lot and his wife. Luke 17:20,24,28-33
The Pharisees’s question: …He was demanded of the Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come. Luke 17:20.
Jesus’s reply: Not with observation…as the lightning from heaven…so shall the Son of man be in His day. vs. 24.
As it was in the days of Lot…the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Luke 17:28-30.
Remember Lot’s wife. Who shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. Luke 17:32-34. A reference to the rapture.
Righteous Lot was not perfect.
Lot chooses the plane of Jordan-the best pasture land and pitched his tent toward Sodom. Gen. 13:10-12.
Lot and family settle in Sodom. He sat at the gate of Sodom. Genesis 19:1
Allows his daughters to marry men of Sodom. His sons-in-law mocked him. Genesis 19:14.
His wife does not obey the Angel’s instruction to not look back at Sodom and becomes a pillar of salt. Genesis 19:17 & 26.
Lot submits to his daughter’s scheme and impregnates them. Genesis 19:31-38.
They give birth to Moab, father of the Moabite nation, and Benammi father of the Ammonites. Genesis 19:37-38.
The Moabites fought against Israel’s King Saul & King David (I Samuel 14:47 & 22:3-4). Ruth the Moabitis becomes a woman of faith and bears a son who is the grandfather of King David (Ruth 4:17-23).
The Ammonites were constant antagonists to Israel.
