Jesus heals the man at the pool of Bethesda

God is our refuge and strength, we will not fear…though the waters roar and be troubled…Psalm 46:1-5.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee. When thou walkest through the fire, thou shall not be burned…Isaiah 43:1-2. The water, river and fire represent trials, difficulties and affliction we face. In our troubled times, God is with us.

I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no Saviour. Isaiah 43:11.

I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19b.

I, even I, am he that blotted out thy transgressions for my own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Isaiah 43:25.

David acknowledges his sin and says the godly will be protected from the flood of great waters. Psalm 32:5-6.

David refers to God delivering him from many waters. II Samuel 22:7-8,14-18.

Save me O God; for the waters are come into my soul. Psalm 69:1-3,13-16.

Solomon’s struggle. Waters flowed over mine head, then I said, I am cut off. Lamentations 3:52-57.

Enemies of the godly referred to as coming in as a flood. Isaiah 59:19.

Jesus heals the man with infirmity for 38 years. John 5:1-9.

  1. Jesus goes to the pool in Bethesda. vs.1-5.

  2. Jesus says to the disabled man “Wilt thou be made whole?”

  3. He replies “there is no man, when the waters is troubled, to put me in the pool.” vs.7.

  4. Jesus says to him “Rise, take up your bed and walk” vs.8.

  5. And immediately the man was made whole.
